In case you missed it, Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda was yesterday released from prison after serving a seven year sentence behind bars.
The world has been celebrating welcoming him back into society, with it being an emotional return for many of those who were close to the rapper.
Prior to detention, Shmurda was rising through the rap ranks quickly, no doubt thanks to his iconic track ‘Hot Ni**a’, which firmly fixed the rapper as a fan favourite, no-holds-barred star.
The hit track dropped in 2014, the same year that Shmurda was arrested by NYPD with charges of conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and gun possession. The police also found 21 guns and drugs in their sweep which incriminated the rapper.
Upon his release, Shmurda was officially awarded with two platinum plaques and two gold ones from the RIAA. He’ll remain under conditional release, serving the rest of his sentence under community supervision as ruled by the Board of Parole.
Prior to his release, Shmurda had this message shared to his fans: “Thank you for remaining loyal and for riding this six year sentence out with me, I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon.”
