Stone’s journey has been defined by persistence. A Yorkshire-born songwriter with Irish roots, he studied at Leeds College of Music and later built a professional recording studio beneath his family home. That studio became the creative base for The Basement Collective, a group of six musicians united by a shared belief in authentic performance.
The project has already been supported by notable achievements. Stone has received BBC Radio 2 support, been playlisted on Jazz FM, had music placed on NBC’s The Blacklist and written the official Tour de Yorkshire theme. He has also met Diane Warren in Los Angeles, an encounter that helped strengthen his belief in his place within music.
Their single “Brother” is a deeply personal release inspired by a close friend’s Stage 4 melanoma diagnosis and recovery. The song turns a painful experience into something hopeful, offering a reminder of the importance of friendship, empathy and emotional openness.
