Prior to the streaming release of her latest single ‘Breathe Again’, set to drop on Mothers Day next month, Nikita has unveiled a touching music video which shows all the good that midwives do.

With the harsh reality of COVID-19 ensuring fewer job opportunities for independent midwives, combined with the news that they will no longer be receiving personal insurance, the specialist care-givers have been left in a vulnerable position.

Nickita’s ‘Breathe Again’ music video depicts different midwives and members of their families, alongside images of women giving birth, as a show of unified support for those struggling to find work.

It’s a heartfelt, emotionally-charged watch that helps to remind viewers just how vital independent midwives are and that, when they are the ones who look after mothers and child, it’s about time that we do something to help them.

Nickita is making that message loud and clear, with all sales of the single going towards the £3 million required to get midwives back to work and to the important campaigning by the organisation Childbirth Choices Matter.

Having suffered the trauma of miscarriage before, Nickita saw first hand the show of support and care she received from her independent midwife, who encouraged her to make any choice she wanted when it came to having her second child.

The singer-songwriter from Hemel Hampstead has channeled her experience in the darkest of times with the support of her midwife to guide her into ‘Breathe Again’, giving an impassioned, urgent performance.
