Today’s Single of the Week is Shell Suit, the debut release by Short Sharp Scratch, the moniker of Jak Chantler, the former guitar player of alt-grunge outfit Kingskin, who won the accolade of Kerrang’s ‘Best Unsigned Band’ and this track produced by George Shilling bursts with an easy breezy summery vibe.
Quite a departure from his past in edgy hard-edged alternative rock, Shell Suit is an upbeat funky track channeling the sounds of Chic or Chaka Khan, whilst managing to have contemporary edge akin to dreamy indie-pop of girl band HAIM courtesy of the impressive vocals by Izzy Warner.
