Amsterdam’s post-punk powerhouse, Marathon, has officially announced their debut album, Fading Image, scheduled for release on April 11, 2025, via V2 Records. Known for their gripping live energy and evocative soundscapes, the album promises to redefine their place in the post-punk revival scene.
New Single: Out of Depth
Serving as both the first single and opening track, Out of Depth embodies Marathon’s exploration of emotional depth and self-awareness. The track transitions from brooding tension to an explosive climax, capturing the sensation of breaking free from self-imposed constraints.
Crafted with producer Iwen Legro (TAPE TOY, POM) and mixed by Daan Duurland (Tramhaus, Library Card), the single signals a departure from conventional structures, revealing the band’s bold artistic evolution.
About Marathon
Forged in the raw, creative heart of Amsterdam’s underground scene, Marathon fuses post-punk’s edginess with the introspection of indie and the atmospheric textures of shoegaze. Fronted by Kay’s gripping vocals, backed by Nina’s commanding basslines and Lennart’s relentless drumming, the band creates a dynamic “wall of sound” further expanded in live performances by Sofie (keys) and Victor (guitars).
Marathon’s lyrics delve into the anxieties and transitions of 21st-century life, offering moments of tension and cathartic release. From their performances at Best Kept Secret and Reeperbahn Festival to their upcoming full-length debut, Marathon invites listeners on a visceral journey through darkness and resilience.
