The song, written for his wife of fifty years, is a heart-wrenching goodbye to a woman he loves deeply but was forced to say goodbye to forever. The song was born out of the heartbreaking circumstance of his wife’s declining health.
After nine years of care, Oupa Mac’s wife was placed in a care home. It was at this time that he finally released the song that had been in his heart all those years. When a Goodbye is Forever is a beautiful ballad, filled with raw emotion and love, a Country-style pop/rock tune carrying emotional weight throughout.
The single was made possible with the help of up and coming music producer, Alex Dixon. Drawing from two generations, Alex recorded and produced the single in the studio his family created in their garage, helping give the track a professional quality sound that carries far beyond the small village in South Africa.
