This week I have something a little different to a new release announcement and something that some of you may want to get involved in. Have you heard of Her Songs For Him – Songwriting Camp? Her Songs For Him Songwriting Camp is the first songwriting camp for female only and non binary songwriters and has a powerful motive behind its organisation.
Aiming to tackle gender equality issues in the music business, Her Songs For Him created by Organisation SLAS are creating a safe space for female and non-binary songwriters, producers and artists to come together and write. While creating a space that these creatives can meet new people, organisation SLAS are also aiming to highlight these brilliant talents.
Why is Her Songs For Him needed? At a time where pop music has never been so popular and dominant in the music business, it is important for every songwriter to be credited and the industry to be accessible to all. Recent studies have shown that less than 30% female songwriters are working on the most popular hits and some are even being missed from the credits.
Hosted in Sweden for five days, the attendees are able to work closely with one another and have studio time with a producer, songwriter and artists in every room. With both songwriting camps resulting in an average of 25 songs completed, the camp is a hub of activity and creativity.
