Van Etten has just unveiled a new taster from her upcoming double LP ‘epic Ten’, a record celebrating the tenth anniversary of her 2010 album ‘epic’, and it comes from none other than punk-for-the-people favourites IDLES.

The record will feature all the originals off Van Etten’s hit album, alongside a whole host of covered tracks from some of her favourite industry counterparts. Those featuring include the likes of Fiona Apple, Lucinda Williams, Courtney Barnett ft. Vagabon, Big Red Machine (Aaron Dessner & Justin Vernon), IDLES, Shamir and St. Panther.

Released digitally on April 16th and physically on 11th June, the double album will be brought out alongside a making-of documentary and a live-streamed performance.

IDLES’ version of ‘Peace Signs’, which comes as the second teaser to ‘epic Ten’ after Big Red Machine’s ‘A crime’, is in archetypal style of the the Bristolians.

With cataclysmic drums courtesy of the immense Jon Beavis, and typically augmented, gritty vocals from Joe Talbot, IDLES sacrifice the lingual beauty of the original for a more hard-hitting, in-your-face approach; it’s definitely for a more hardened audience than for fans of the original, but an anthem nonetheless.
