The first shots from Danny Boyle’s upcoming biopic ‘Pistol’ have been shared, featuring the cast on-stage in full Sex Pistols attire.

The series will be based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, with a star-studded cast set to play the punk icons from the band’s prime era.

Babyteeth’s Toby Wallace will play Jones, with Anson Boon as Johnny Rotten, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious and Jacob Slater as drummer Paul Cook; from the first shots alone, it seems Boyle has built an uncanny resemblance to the original Pistols in his casting.

The series will also feature Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, who plays the brit-punk legend Jordan (Pamela Rooke). The biopic will also see Thomas Brodie-Sangster star as Sex Pistols’ manager Malcolm McLaren and Tallulah Riley as the eternally decadent Vivienne Westwood.

If the stellar cast and direction from Danny Boyle wasn’t enough to get you excited for a Sex Pistols series, then the news that ‘Pistol’ has been adapted for TV by Craig Pearce, screenwriter behind The Great Gatsby (2013), should.

Boyle describes Sex Pistols’ breakthrough as “the moment that British society and culture changed forever”.

“At its centre was a young charming illiterate kleptomaniac – a hero for the times – Steve Jones, who became in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. This is how he got there,” the award-winning director added.
