Despite some festivals announcing they’ll go ahead this summer, Download has today confirmed that the rock weekend will be postponed for another year.

A statement tweeted from the official Download Twitter Account read that “we never gave up hope of bringing the festival back to Donington this June and have been working so hard behind the scenes to make that happen, but we now know that it’s not possible.”

The news comes after the UK Government revealed its strategy for coming out of lockdown and reintegrating the public back into a normal society. With some restrictions still being held in place until at least June 21st, however, organisers of Download deemed it best to cancel yet again, with the music festival having been set to take place from 4-6th June.

The Government’s roadmap out of lockdown has created a significant benchmark for the re-opening of the music industry and of summer festivals, with Glastonbury choosing also to close its doors for another year. While, later festivals like Reading & Leeds and Creamfields have given fans the green light to buy tickets.
