Mark Springer, a pivotal force behind Rip Rig and Panic, steps into the spotlight with his latest project, “Sleep of Reason.” This double vinyl and CD release, featuring the legendary Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys, is scheduled to captivate audiences on April 25th.
Inspired by the evocative etchings of Francisco Goya, the album comprises three distinct pieces: a solo piano work, a complex string quartet with the Sacconi String Quartet, and an innovative quintet marked by Tennant’s emotive vocals.
The journey begins on March 14th with the single “Phantoms and Monsters,” setting the stage for a haunting exploration of the ‘monsters’ shaping our current societal landscape. Springer’s music seamlessly melds spontaneous invention with lyrical beauty, exploring themes of division and unity in today’s world.
Neil Tennant’s collaboration adds depth to Springer’s compositions, as his incisive lyrics bring the quintet to life. This unique fusion of classical and pop elements showcases Springer’s mastery and boldness in bridging diverse musical worlds.
“Sleep of Reason” will be available on double vinyl, CD, and digital platforms, with pre-orders kicking off on March 7th via Bandcamp.
